Although Stella Shackelford has more than 15 years of experience practicing law, she began her legal career as a law librarian in Birmingham, Alabama.
In 2000, she became the law librarian for Montgomery, Barnett, Brown, Read, Hammond & Mintz, in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to evaluating legal treatises and other research resources for suitability for use by the law firm, Ms Shackelford conducted extensive legal research and writing.
After Hurricane Katrina, she left Montgomery, Barnett and began to practice law full time. The majority of her practice involved defending against toxic tort and property damage claims.
In 2014, she became a partner in the law firm of White, Andrews & Shackelford. In 2017, she left her law firm and started her own practice, Stella C.C. Shackelford, L.L.C.
